September 21 Residential Dining Update

Information below was sent out on and may be outdated. View our latest updates here.

Hello residents,

At M Food Co., our top priorities have always been to serve you with a variety of healthy, fresh foods that accommodate a wide range of dietary needs and to do so at residence hall locations during convenient hours.

As you may or may not know, we have experienced significant staffing challenges this fall, similar to other areas of the U.S. economy. We are aware of how our staffing shortages and resulting reduced hours have affected your dining experience. Please know we are doing everything we can to resolve these issues, including through the steps below.

Modified Hours of Operation

We have temporarily adjusted the service hours in residential dining facilities to ensure that we can provide the highest quality of service. An updated list of the residential dining hall hours can be found on the Dine on Campus website. Residential markets in Centennial, Sanford, and Middlebrook will be open until midnight.

To-Go Program

We know many students take advantage of Late Night to grab a bite to eat during evening study breaks and other activities. As a reminder, each student living in University housing was provided with a container for participating in the M Food Co. To-Go Program. We encourage you to use this program to take additional items with you if you would like. Please remember that if you are dining in and taking items to-go, two meal swipes are required.

More information (including what to do if you’ve misplaced your container) can be found on our website.

Recruiting and Temporary Staffing Measures

We continue to focus on recruiting new employees, hiring students, and exploring every option available to hire additional staff as soon as possible. We are currently using local staffing agencies and are working with national staffing organizations, including "Chefs on the Fly," to provide interim staffing until permanent staffing levels can be achieved. In addition, pre-cut vegetables and fruits and pre-made sauces, soups, and salads will be purchased so culinary staff can focus their attention on preparing and cooking food.

We're Hiring Student Workers

As the largest student employer on campus, we have a number of work opportunities available this fall. Positions are available in the dining halls or at one of the many retail restaurants on campus. We offer flexible schedules and accept work-study (if applicable). Visit our website to apply today.

If you have any questions, please contact the Meal Plan Office at [email protected]

Thank you again for your understanding and patience,
M Food Co.
